Job Description – Fire & Security Supervisor

Wing’s Technical Services Limited is a progressive and fast-growing Facilities Management company with over 25 years of industry experience. We provide compliant, reliable and cost-effective Mechanical, Electrical, Fire & Security, and Building Services to a diverse client base across the South of England, with a strong focus on education and commercial environments.

Due to continued growth, we are now recruiting for an experienced Fire & Security Supervisor to join our expanding compliance and electrical services team.

This role will involve a combination of hands-on engineering duties and supervisory responsibilities, including planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, remedial works, small installations, and overseeing works across fire alarm and security systems.

The position includes multi-site working, occasional early starts, and participation in a shared on-call rota (typically 1 in 4 weeks).

Key Responsibilities

As a Fire & Security Supervisor at Wing’s Technical Services, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting fire detection and security systems, while also overseeing works and supporting the wider team.

Engineering Duties

• Carrying out PPM servicing and inspections on fire alarm and security systems, EML, access control and CCTV
• Fault finding and rectification of system issues
• Minor installations, upgrades and system modifications
• Commissioning and testing in line with BS 5839 and relevant security standards
• Attending reactive breakdowns including participation in the on-call rota
• Ensuring all works meet safety, compliance and company standards

Supervisory & Project Responsibilities

• Supervising engineers on site and ensuring works are completed to a high standard
• Writing specifications and scopes of works for remedial and installation jobs
• Producing quotations using company templates and systems
• Reviewing completed works, job reports, and documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Carrying out site checks, quality inspections, and progress reviews

• Providing regular updates and reporting to the Electrical Manager on job progress, issues, and completed works
• Highlighting any compliance concerns, risks, or delays to the Electrical Manager in a timely manner
• Supporting planning and coordination of works across multiple sites in line with programme requirements

• Acting as a key point of contact between engineers, office staff, clients, and the Electrical Manager
• Assisting with training and mentoring junior engineers where required
• Identifying additional works or compliance issues and reporting back through the Electrical Manager for review and action

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications

Essential:
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in Fire Alarm and/or Security systems
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Good understanding of BS 5839-1 2025, PD6662 regulations
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ability to work independently and supervise others
• Strong customer service and communication skills

Desirable:
• Previous supervisory or lead engineer experience
• Experience in schools or public sector environments
• Electrical background or qualifications
• IPAF / PASMA
• Experience with CCTV, Access control or Intruder Alarms
• Knowledge of emergency lighting or wider compliance systems
• FIA Modules
• The ability to satisfy BS7858 and enhanced DBS checks

The Package

• £46,000 basic salary per year (£48,275 including call out charge)

On-call allowance:
• £175 per week (1 in 4 rota – approx. £2,275 per year)

Overtime rates:
• Time and a half after 6:00pm Monday–Friday
• Time and a half Saturdays up to 12:00pm
• Double time after 12:00pm Saturdays and all-day Sunday
• Call-outs paid door-to-door
